Wheel on Rent Editorial TeamPublished 23 July 2026Fact-checked 23 July 2026

A careful inspection protects both renter and owner. Complete it in good light, record existing marks and resolve unclear terms before leaving the pickup point.

Documents and booking

Check that the booking names the correct vehicle and rental period. Keep the support contact, payment record, return time and breakdown process available.

Carry a valid driving licence for the vehicle class and the identity proof accepted during booking.

Bike and scooter checks

Inspect tyres, brakes, throttle, clutch where applicable, lights, indicators, horn, mirrors, stand and visible leaks. Photograph every existing scratch.

Check that the helmet fits correctly, is undamaged and bears the applicable standard mark.

Car and return checks

Walk around the car and test tyres, lights, wipers, horn, seat belts, air conditioning, dashboard warnings and reverse aids. Record fuel and odometer readings.

At return, photograph the condition again and obtain acknowledgement of the handover and any deposit timeline.
